Some love stories don’t arrive all at once.
They unfold gently—through timing, growth, and the quiet understanding that what’s meant for you will always find its way back. We now know that God was writing our story long before we ever realized it, guiding each step, each season, and each crossing with intention.
Calvin and I first crossed paths long before we ever imagined a future together. We were young, familiar faces in the same orbit, aware of one another but not yet meant to truly connect. Even then, God was allowing us to see each other—not as the people we were at the time, but as the people we would become.
When life brought us together again later on, we shared a brief season that was simple and genuine. There was ease, laughter, and mutual respect—and when that chapter came to a close, it did so with honesty and care. Even then, Calvin showed me the kind of man he was: thoughtful, respectful, and grounded. Looking back, we see that God was planting seeds—quietly preparing our hearts, even when we didn’t yet understand why.
Life continued, as it does, pulling us in different directions. But through every season, God remained the center of both of our worlds, shaping us individually, teaching us, stretching us, and drawing us closer to Him.
As the years passed, we both grew—becoming more confident, more rooted in our faith, and more certain of who we were and what we wanted. Though we were living separate lives, there was always a sense of familiarity between us, a gentle reminder that God’s plans are never forgotten. Calvin would later tell me that I crossed his mind from time to time, wondering where life had taken me.
When our paths crossed again, the timing still wasn’t quite right. I knew I needed to fully close one door before opening another, and when I shared that with Calvin, he met me with patience and understanding. He didn’t rush me. He didn’t fade away. He simply made it clear that some things—and some people—are worth waiting for. In that season, we see now that God was teaching us obedience, trust, and surrender.
Eventually, life did what it does best and brought us back together in the most unexpected, ordinary way. A chance run-in. A simple message. Three words that felt like an invitation to something familiar and new all at once:
“Come see me.”
So I did.
And from that moment on, everything felt different—in the best way. What followed was not rushed or forced, but steady and sure. A love built on mutual respect, shared faith, growth, laughter, and the understanding that we had both needed time with God to become who we were meant to be.
We truly believe that we had to walk our own paths with God first before we could walk this one together.
And now, after all the crossings, the patience, and the perfect timing, we get to choose each other—
every single day.
Most of all, we choose God—
the author of our story, the foundation of our love, and the reason we know this was always meant to be.
